South Western Districts captain Jean du Plessis reached a double-century on day two of this week’s 4-Day Domestic Series, division two, fixture against Border at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn.
Du Plessis scored 203 from 316 balls, including 24 fours. This is his first double-century in first-class cricket.
Du Plessis’ previous highest score in first-class cricket of 162 not out was also struck against Border.
Last month, he struck a List A best 112 against Northern Cape in the One-Day Cup – and had also hit a century against the Knights in mid-September 2023.
Former Proteas, Western Province and Cape Cobras spinner Dane Piedt, meanwhile, went without a wicket on debut for the Knights against Limpopo in Bloemfontein on Thursday.
Piedt has been playing Minor League Cricket and Major League Cricket in the United States of America – and recently returned to domestic cricket in South Africa with the Knights.
