Former Proteas all-rounder JP Duminy played for Strandfontein Cricket Club in last week’s Western Province Cricket Association fixture against Primrose Cricket Club.
Duminy scored one run and took two wickets. Primrose Cricket Club won by four wickets.
“This is the beauty and privilege of playing in local communities and touching base with the local game is priceless,” Duminy was quoted as saying by The Tatler.
“Well the result did not go our way, but there is still hope for our side. But my return is not permanent as I’m still busy with some commentary work on the Champions Trophy taking place in Pakistan at the moment.
Earlier this season, Duminy hit a century in Strandfontein Cricket Club’s victory over Northerns Goodwood Cricket Club. He resigned as South Africa’s batting coach in late 2024.
“But for the rest, I’m taking a break from coaching and will also be putting in some work in my JP21 Foundation. So, yes I am taking things easy,” he added.
Duminy played 46 Tests, 199 ODIs and 81 T20Is from 2004 to 2019.
