Strandfontein Cricket Club currently occupy last position on the 2024-25 Western Province Cricket Association first division A points table.

Strandfontein Cricket Club, who are in 12th position, have 14 points after three wins and 16 defeats.

Avendale Cricket Club are in 11th position and have 19 points, while Gugulethu Cricket Club are 10th and have 22. Hottentots Holland Cricket Club are in ninth position with 28 points.

Whether Strandfontein Cricket Club will avoid relegation to the 2025-26 WPCA first division B remains in the balance. They lost to Primrose Cricket Club last week.

“Well the result did not go our way, but there is still hope for our side. But my return is not permanent as I’m still busy with some commentary work on the Champions Trophy taking place in Pakistan at the moment,” former Proteas batsman JP Duminy was quoted as saying by The Tatler. Duminy played for Strandfontein Cricket Club against Primrose Cricket Club.

“This is the beauty and privilege of playing in local communities and touching base with the local game is priceless.”

Earlier this season, Duminy hit a century in Strandfontein Cricket Club’s victory over Northerns Goodwood Cricket Club. He resigned as South Africa’s batting coach in late 2024.

“But for the rest, I’m taking a break from coaching and will also be putting in some work in my JP21 Foundation. So, yes I am taking things easy,” he added.

Duminy played 46 Tests, 199 ODIs and 81 T20Is from 2004 to 2019.
