Joburg Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis has been ruled out of the remainder of season four of the SA20.
Du Plessis has been sidelined by thumb injury sustained during 10 January 2026’s fixture against MI Cape Town at the Wanderers.
Batsman Donovan Ferreira has been named JSK captain in the absence of du Plessis. Batman Leus du Plooy has replaced due Plessis in the squad.
Du Plooy has played for the Super Kings previously – and is the 14th-highest run-scorer in the history of the SA20.
“All our love with you, skipper. Faf du Plessis has been ruled out of the remainder of the SA20 season after suffering a right thumb ligament tear, requiring surgical repair. Our best wishes are with you,” read a statement from the Joburg Super Kings.
JSK currently occupy third position on this season’s SA2o points table. They have won three and lost two matches.
MI Cape Town are the reigning SA20 champions. The Sunrisers Eastern Cape are the most successful team in the history of the tournament with two titles.
