All-rounder Juan James debuted in first-class cricket this week.
James was named in North West’s XI for the ongoing 4-Day Domestic Series division one fixture against Boland in Potchefstroom.
He played for South Africa Under-19 last year – and represented Ottoman Cricket Club in the 2022-23 Western Province Cricket Association premier league.
Former Proteas batsman and North West team-mate Heino Kuhn welcomed James.
“On behalf of the team, we want to welcome you to the North West Dragons,” said Kuhn.
“This is a very special moment in your career. We have seen a lot of talent in you and we believe you will put out the runs for us.
“All the best for your debut and your career going forward. Play for the badge and play for the guys around you. We believe you will have a very, very good career.”
James attended Wynberg Boys’ High School, which has produced Proteas cricketers such as Jacques Kallis, Kyle Verreynne and Richard Levi.
