Batsman Justin Gilliland has reversed last month’s decision to join Avendale Cricket Club – and will remain at Strandfontein Cricket Club for the 2020-21 Western Province Cricket Association first division A.

Gilliland had all but formally committed to Avendale Cricket Club in the WPCA first division B.

He had been practising with Avendale Cricket Club, but later voiced intention to stay at Strandfontein Cricket Club.

Gilliland was recently named among the Western Province academy intake for 2020-21.

He would have been the only WPCA first division B member among an academy squad lined with premier league and first division A talent, had September’s decision to join Avendale Cricket Club not been reversed in October.

Strandfontein Cricket Club spent one season in the WPCA premier league before returning to the 2020-21 first division A.

The start of the 2020-21 WPCA club cricket season has been delayed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
