Pringle beats van Wyk
Pringle hit 151 from 65 deliveries against the Bo-Kaap Phantoms at the Doc Basson Oval at Durbanville Cricket Club.
His score surpassed the tournament’s previous best – 107 not out from former Knysna Falcons batsman Lenert van Wyk against the District Sixers.
Botha also outdoes van Wyk
Peninsula Patriots batsman Leon Botha also beat van Wyk’s record during the opening weekend of the 2021 CPL.
Botha struck 109 not out from 63 deliveries against the Cape Vikings. His century was also collected at the Doc Basson Oval.
Christensen equals van Wyk
Hoeri Kwaggo Bulls batsman Jesse Christensen welcomed the third century of the 2021 CPL en route to 107 not out from 44 balls against the West Coast Outlaws at the Doc Basson Oval.
Durbanville Cricket Club’s secondary field evidently had a particularly short square boundary to the right-handers’ off-side and left-handers’ leg-side.
Dickenson nears Gray
District Sixers seamer Gavin Dickenson claimed the second-best figures in the history of the CPL.
Dickenson’s six for 38 against the Devil’s Peak Dragons at the Western Province Cricket Club’s Wally Wilson is only bettered by Cape Vikings leg-spinner Alistair Gray’s seven for 14 in 2019’s inaugural final against the Bulls at Newlands.
Fourie and Petersen outdo Goodall
Devil’s Peak Dragons spinner Marcus Fourie and Atlantic Pirates seamer Luke Petersen claimed the third- and fourth-best CPL figures during the opening rounds of the 2021 edition.
Fourie clinched four for 10 against the Sixers at the Wally Wilson Oval.
Petersen managed four for eight against the Vikings at the same venue. Fourie and Petersen’s hauls surpassed the four for 14 spinner Liam Goodall took for the Vikings against the Pirates in 2019.
