Proteas fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has left the 2025 Indian Premier League.
Rabada had taken two wickets in two matches for the Gujarat Titans in this year’s IPL.
“Kagiso has returned to South Africa to deal with an important personal matter,” read a statement from the Titans.
Whether Rabada will return to India for the rest of the tournament later this month remains in the balance.
The Titans currently occupy fourth position on the 10-team IPL points table. They have won two and lost one match. Gujarat won the IPL title in 2022.
Several other South Africans are involved in this year’s edition of the IPL.
Batsmen Aiden Markram, Matthew Breetzke and David Miller are with the Lucknow Super Giants.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have Proteas pair Heinrich Klaasen and Wiaan Mulder.
Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi is with the Royal Challengers Bangalore – and all-rounder Marco Jansen is with the Punjab Kings. The Mumbai Indians have South African duo Corbin Bosch and Ryan Rickelton.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock and fast bowler Anrich Nortje are with the Kolkata Knight Riders. Fast bowler Gerald Coetzee is with Gujarat.
Batsmen Faf du Plessis, Tristan Stubbs and Donovan Ferreira are with the Delhi Capitals.
Chennai and Mumbai are the most successful teams in the history of the IPL with five titles each. Kolkata have three titles and are the reigning champions after beating Hyderabad in the 2024 final.
