“I’m absolutely gutted for my time at Kent to come to a close so quickly. It’s been an amazing but short few weeks,” said Dudgeon.

“A massive thank you to the Kent fans. You’ve been absolutely incredible to me – from those who those who travelled to Northampton for my debut, to those who have sent me messages online. Your support has been amazing, and it really drives us all on as players.

“I’d also like to extend a special thank you to Simon Cook, Adam Hollioake and Daniel Bell-Drummond for welcoming me to the group from day one, and giving me the opportunity to represent.

“I really hope to get strong and fit as soon as possible, and when that time comes, hopefully I get the opportunity to represent this great club again in the future. I’ll be cheering on the boys from afar this season.”

Dudgeon will return to South Africa and start rehabilitation ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season with Boland.

“We can confirm that following scans and advice from specialists, Keith’s knee injury sustained in training last week has cut short his time as a Kent cricketer this summer,” read a statement from Kent.

“Everyone at the club wishes Keith the very best in his recovery, and he will always be welcome back at Kent Cricket. Once a Spitfire, always a Spitfire.”
