All-rounder Kelly Smuts has left Northern Cape for South Western Districts ahead of the 2023-24 domestic season in South Africa.

This will be Smuts’ second stint at South Western Districts after one season with Northern Cape.

“My time at South Western Districts was short-lived, but it was good. I enjoyed being there, I wanted to stay, but it didn’t pan out accordingly,” he told Club Cricket SA in May 2022 after joining Northern Cape.

SWD have lost all-rounders Onke Nyaku and Sean Whitehead to Western Province and the Warriors, respectively, but also gained:

  • Ruan Terblanche (from Boland);
  • Khwezi Gumede (from Boland); and
  • Thomas Kaber (from Border).
