Kensington Cricket Club announce new coach

Kensington Cricket Club have appointed the talented Nathier Gamieldien player-coach for the 2019-20 Western Province Cricket Association first division C.

Gamieldien, who joined Kensington Cricket Club in the 2018-19 season, has succeeded former coach Angelo Adams.

What Gamieldien said

“I am excited to have the opportunity as a player-coach at a community club like Kensington Cricket Club, with an executive committee who are constantly strive to build and develop the club,” said Gamieldien.

“Our intention is to create a culture of thinking cricketers with a positive mindset and contagious attitude. There is an exciting mix of youth, experience and talent throughout the club – and it’s something any coach would look forward to working with.”

Kensington Cricket Club finished in fifth position across 2018-19’s nine-team first division C, after nine wins and as many losses. They will be without seamer Amelio Terblanche, who has returned to Cravenby Cricket Club.

What Kensington Cricket Club said

“We are pleased to have appointed Nathier as head coach. Over the past season, he has shown leadership qualities and a love for this beautiful game of cricket,” read a statement from Kensington Cricket Club.

“Gamieldien has also gained international exposure in terms of coaching and playing with various London-based clubs. He has previously represented Primrose Cricket Club, United Cricket Club and Blue Bells Cricket Club.”
