Kerrin Klaaste recently became the first female umpire to win the South Western Districts Cricket Umpires’ Association (SWDCUA) Umpire of the Season award.

Klaaste won the award after officiating in several Cricket South Africa tournaments, including the Khaya Majola Under-19 tournament and T20 Community Cup.

“Honoured would be an understatement because I genuinely do not believe that I’m the best candidate within our union,” Klaaste was quoted as saying by gsport.

“However, I do believe that accepting opportunities presented to me have contributed towards this accolade. The gentlemen alongside me at SWD have massively contributed to my growth.

“As for it being another female first for the union, I am humbled.”
