Cricket South Africa and the Bangladesh Cricket Board had agreed to a substitution protocol before the start of the series. It is in accordance with International Cricket Council’s protocols.
“This is an unfortunate situation, but not unexpected after the decision was made to have this tour under the Managed Event Environment protocol, rather than the strict bio-safe environment protocol as was previously the case,” said Cricket South Africa chief medical officer, doctor Shuaib Manjra.
“The two players are currently in quarantine at the team hotel and are under the care of the team’s medical staff.”
Zondo did not bat and Stuurman did not bowl as South Africa won the second Test by 332 runs inside four days. The hosts completed a two-nil series win.
