Khayelitsha Cricket Club have appointed the experienced Thulani Zideba as chairman, ahead of the 2017-18 Western Province Cricket Association season.
Zideba previously worked as the WPCA club and facilities coordinator, before being succeeded by newcomer Lindsay O’Malley earlier this year.
“I am excited about the challenge ahead. Khayelitsha Cricket Club has been faced with so many challenges recently – and we hope that this is the beginning of an end to the challenges the club,” Zideba told Club Cricket SA.
“It is certainly not going to be smooth sailing, but it is one that I look forward to.”
Khayelitsha Cricket Club, meanwhile, have reappointed head coach Bulelani Libazi.
Libazi held the position previously, before assuming the role of assistant coach at the University of Cape Town Cricket Club. He has succeeded the outgoing Cyril Ntshidi at Khayelitsha Cricket Club.
“I am really looking forward to my new role. Khayelitsha Cricket Club – it is bigger than anyone would think. Carrying the brand and representing the community will come with a lot of pressure, but I must stay humble and trust the players I will be working with,” said Libazi.
Khayelitsha Cricket Club finished in the third position in the 2016-17 WPCA first division D, after three wins in eight attempts.
