Khayelitsha Cricket Club have effectively been relegated to the 2025-26 Western Province Cricket Association first division D after ending the 2024-25 first division C in last position.
Khayelitsha Cricket Club occupied 12th position on this season’s WPCA points table after five wins and 13 defeats. They will be relegated alongside 11th-placed Montrose Cricket Club.
“The first half of the season was very difficult for us because of player unavailability, but we came back strong in the second half and nearly survived,” Khayelitsha Cricket Club coach Wonga Matshabane was quoted as saying by The Vukani.
“At least in the second half, we were able to show that we can compete. We will regroup and hopefully win the league and get back to division C.”
Khayelitsha Cricket Club will effectively be replaced by Vikings Cricket Club in the WPCA first division C. Vikings Cricket Club ended at the bottom of the 2024-25 WPCA first division B points table – and will be relegated.
