KwaZulu-Natal Inland have been promoted to division one for South African domestic cricket’s 2023-24 season.

They will likely replace the Knights or North West, one of which will be relegated from division one to two.

“We are through to division one. Hard work pays off. Congratulations to the team and staff for making this possible. It’s a win for not one but for all. We are taking the stampede to division one next season,” read a brief social media statement from KwaZulu-Natal Inland.

Former Warriors fast bowler Stefan Tait, Limpopo all-rounder Malcolm Nofal, Northern Cape batsman Jonathan Vandiar and others joined KwaZulu-Natal Inland ahead of the 2022-23 season.

They were coached by former Dolphins coach Grant Morgan, who succeeded the outgoing Michael Smith, who joined the Lions.

“I don’t think there are words to describe this feeling, but ‘surreal’ is one word that comes to mind,” added KwaZulu-Natal Inland captain Michael Erlank.

“It has been a challenging two seasons and this could have gone either way. What a privilege for the Tuskers to get promoted.

“All the hard work that has gone into the process has paid off and we are absolutely buzzing about it all.”
