Former Proteas all-rounder Lance Klusener has been appointed head coach of the Durban’s Super Giants in Cricket South Africa’s new T20 league.
The league will launch across six cities early next year. All six franchises have been bought by entities who also own Indian Premier League teams.
Former Proteas captain Graeme Smith has been appointed league commissioner.
The Durban franchise is owned by RPSG Sports Private Limited. They also own the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.
“This is a new challenge for me. It makes me very proud. I am looking forward to meet the team,” said Klusener.

Klusener’s coaching experience
Klusener played 49 Tests and 171 ODIs from 1996 to 2004 before moving into coaching.
He has since worked with South Africa, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in international cricket.
At domestic level, he has worked with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, Khulna Tigers in the Bangladesh Premier League.
