Langa Cricket Club are hiring a new head coach, ahead of the 2018-19 Western Province Cricket Association season.
Langa Cricket Club occupied last position in the 2017-18 premier league standings, after defeats to Milnerton Cricket Club, the University of the Western Cape Cricket Club, Claremont Cricket Club, Cape Town Cricket Club, Durbanville Cricket Club, Ottoman Cricket Club and Western Province Cricket Club.
Fixtures with Rondebosch Cricket Club, Brackenfell Cricket Club, Victoria Cricket Club and Brackenfell Cricket Club didn’t materialise, due to the season’s premature end amid water shortages in Cape Town and surrounds.
According to the WPCA’s first draft of fixtures for the 2018-19 premier league, Langa Cricket Club’s opening match will be against Durbanville Cricket Club on 27 October. They will host Claremont Cricket Club 24 hours later.
Meanwhile, the WPCA have confirmed premier league and first division A cricket will change from two- to one-day competition for the 2018-19 season.
A proposal, largely based on feedback solicited from premier league and first division clubs and the recommendations of a task team, suggested the format swap.
The decision will stand for the 2018-19 season and, later, be re-evaluated for a potential return to two-day cricket in 2019-20.
