Langa Cricket Club will have an overseas professional for the remainder of the 2019-20 Western Province Cricket Association premier league.
All-rounder Waqar Ali Ahmad has played club cricket around the world, including the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Australia and South Africa.
His previous stint in South Africa was with Ottoman Cricket Club.
“We are excited and thrilled to welcome Waqar. We know he has vast experience and look forward to what he can contribute with bat and ball. We have come close to winning a few matches,” Langa Cricket Club captain Raees Mohammed told Club Cricket SA.
“Hopefully, his arrival will complete our team for the rest of the season. We want to win a couple of matches. We want to make the people of Langa proud of their club.”
Ahmad will debut against Western Province Cricket Club later this week.
Langa Cricket Club currently occupy last position in the 12-team WPCA premier league. They have lost nine matches and shared a no-result with the University of the Western Cape Cricket Club.
