Lenasia Cricket Club have named former professional cricketer Shaylen Pillay player-coach ahead of the 2025-26 Lions Cricket premier league A in Gauteng.
Pillay retired from professional cricket earlier this year. He played first-class cricket from 2011 to 2025. His first-class career started with the Lions, moved to North West and ended with Easterns.
“Shaylen is product of Lenasia and has made the entire community proud of all his achievements. We are delighted to welcome you back to Lenasia Cricket Club,” read a statement from the club.
Meanwhile, Lenasia Cricket Club have signed batsman HJ Warrington from Kagiso Cricket Club and retained seamers Rafeeq Patel and JJ Basson. Patel has a high performance contract with the Lions and Basson was signed by the Paarl Royals at the recent SA20 player auction.
