Titans batsman Lhuan-dre Pretorius‘ last nine matches of the 2024-25 domestic season in South Africa yielded four centuries.

Pretorius hit consecutive centuries against Western Province and the Warriors in the One-Day Cup, division one. He hit another century against Western Province in the 4-Day Domestic Series, division one.

This week, the 19-year-old Pretorius hit a century against the Lions in the final of the 4-Day Domestic Series, division one.

“It’s his third century for us in four-day cricket this season, which is quite scary,” said Titans captain Neil Brand, who captained the Proteas during last year’s Test series against New Zealand.

His batsmanship is on another level, it looks like he’s been playing the game at this level for years. It’s really encouraging and good for cricket in South Africa. I hope they do get him into the national set-up pretty quickly because I think he’s ready.”

“His batsmanship in the last couple of days has been incredible to watch. Just the way he’s figured out what the bowlers are trying to do and his plans to combat that have been phenomenal to watch.

“He’s got all the shots, all the talent in the world; he’s really hungry to score runs and hits thousands of balls every week.”

“The sky is the limit for Lhuan-dre and for Dewald as well,” added Brand.

Cricket South Africa director of national teams and high Performance Enoch Nkwe added: “Two years ago Dewald got an international opportunity and then things didn’t quite work out for him.

“There is little doubt that if he keeps playing like he is now, he will step onto the field for the Proteas again. Dewald has been very impressive at domestic level and it is good that he has hit the reset button and is performing.

“There will undoubtedly be more opportunities for him to secure his place in the Proteas team. One focus will be to get him to the level where he can play consistently for the Proteas.”
