Lions batsman Connor Esterhuizen has joined the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders for the inaugural edition of the International League T20 in the United Arab Emirates.
Esterhuizen was not named in the Knight Riders’ squad initially, but has since been added.
He played for the Lions in the recent One Day Cup and last year’s Namibia Global T20.
The International League T20 largely coincides with the SA20 – Cricket South Africa’s new domestic T20 tournament.
England all-rounder Moeen Ali joined the Joburg Super Kings in the SA20, but later withdrew to play for the Sharjah Warriors in the ILT20.
The International Cricket Council, meanwhile, have confirmed the ILT20 has not been granted formal T20 status.
