Proteas fast bowler Duanne Olivier will reportedly leave the Lions ahead of the 2024-24 domestic season in South Africa.
Olivier, who has played 16 Tests and two ODIs for South Africa, will likely join the Warriors or return to the Knights.
“We’ve signed letters of intent on behalf of Duanne and Malusi Siboto, although in Malusi’s case it might be a straight retirement,” Lions chief executive officer Jono Leaf-Wright told Rapport.
“As far as Duanne is concerned, we understand that the Knights and the Warriors are both interested. We’re helping them in whatever way we can.
“Kwena Maphaka, our exciting left-arm fast bowler, will come into the mix as a direct contracting replacement.”
Du Plessis joins Warriors
Meanwhile, batsman Jean du Plessis will leave South Western Districts for the Warriors.
Du Plessis was the third-highest run-scorer in the division two of the 2023-24 4-Day Domestic Series. He hit 591 runs in 10 innings at an average of 73.87.
Du Plessis was also loaned to Boland in division one for one match – and hit a century against the Lions.
He also hit 50 not out and 106 for South Africa A against India A.
