The Lions have confirmed the exits of leg-spinner Junaid Dawood, batsman Muhammad Manack and seamer Tshepo Moreki ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season in South Africa.
Dawood and Manack have joined the Titans and Warriors, respectively, while Moreki has returned to Western Province.
“Farewell to our spin wizard – Junaid. Thank you for the magic, grit and unforgettable spells. You leave as the T20 Challenge’s top wicket-taker and forever part of the pride. Wishing you nothing but success on your next chapter,” read a statement from the Lions.
“After two stellar seasons lighting up the field with passion, pace, and pride, we bid farewell to Tshepo. Thank you for the unforgettable moments with the Lions, your roar will echo far beyond the pitch. Wishing you nothing but big wins, bold strides and boundless success on your next adventure.
“Wishing our young gun Muhammad all the best as he takes on his next chapter. From big shots to bigger dreams, thank you for your passion, energy and heart. The pride will always be behind you.”
The Lions have signed former Warriors seamers Beyers Swanepoel and Siya Plaatjie – and Proteas spinner Bjorn Fortuin – on full contracts. Fortuin recently lost a Cricket South Africa contract.
They have upgraded South Africa Emerging batsman Richard Seletswane to a full contract. Seletswane’s Lions team-mate Tiaan Brits has also been upgraded to a full contract. They previously had high performance contracts.
