The Lions have upgraded leg-spinner Nqaba Peter‘s contract ahead of South Africa’s 2024-25 domestic season.

Peter was previously on a high performance contract. He has since signed a two-year professional contract, confirmed Lions chief executive officer Jono Leaf-Wright.

Peter is the third-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing T20 Challenge. He has taken 19 wickets in nine matches, including a four-for against the Titans in the semi-final.

Peter joined the Lions from Border in 2023 – and has since represented the Paarl Royal in the SA20.

Batsmen Ronan Herrmann and Cole Abrahams, meanwhile, have left the Lions. Hermann and Abrahams have joined Northern Cape.

“We have signed Ronan, who I think is one of the bright talents in South African cricket. We are looking forward to seeing what he can do with the Heat,” Northern Cape head coach Mark Charlton told Club Cricket SA.
