Lundi Mbane, Warren Dugmore, Wayne Hendricks win top over-40 IPT awards

Border Over-40’s Lundi Mbane was named Player of the Tournament after last week’s inter-provincial tournament in Johannesburg.

Lions Over-40’s Warren Dugmore and Western Province Over-40’s Wayne Hendricks were named Batsman of the Tournament and Bowler of the Tournament, respectively.

Mbane hit 124 runs in three innings, including two half-centuries, and took four wickets.

Dugmore struck 283 runs in four innings, including one century and two half-tons.

Hendricks took 11 wickets in three innings at an economy rate of 2.73 and average of 6.45. He was the only player to take a five-wicket haul at the tournament.

Western Province Over-40 won last week’s inter-provincial tournament. They beat East Rand Over-40 in the final at Wanderers Cricket Club.

Lions Over-40, Eastern Province Over-40 and Titans Over-40 finished in third, fourth and fifth position, respectively. Border Over-40, Dolphins Over-40 and Boland Over-40 came sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

Mbane, Dugmore and Hendricks have since been named in the South Africa Over-40 squad for the Africa Cup later this year.
