Stellenbosch Cricket Club (Maties) fast bowler Brandon Glover will likely debut in international cricket this month.
Glover has been named in the Netherlands’ squad for late June 2019’s limited-overs series against Zimbabwe. The series will feature two ODIs and two T20Is.
“It is Glover’s debut in the Netherlands squad. He plays for Voorburg Cricket Club in the top league,” read a statement from the Dutch Cricket Association.
“The last time the two countries met in an official ODI was during the 2003 World Cup. Zimbabwe won that encounter by 99 runs. During the World T20 in India in 2014, Zimbabwe also beat the Netherlands, this time by five wickets.”
The 22-year-old Glover has played nine first-class matches for Boland – and represented Northamptonshire in the United Kingdom’s Second Eleven Championship last year. According to WebSports, the talented right-armer played six of Maties’ 18 matches during a title-winning 2018-19 Boland Cricket Board premier league campaign.
