Earlier this month, de Villiers was named Player of the Match on One-Day Cup debut. He hit 49 not out against the Lions – also at St George’s Park.

De Villiers, who previously represented the Western Province Colts, joined the Warriors on a high performance contract before the start of the 2024-25 domestic season in South Africa.

De Villiers hit 94 and 58 on first-class debut for the Warriors in October 2024.

“It was a pinch-me moment. I worked for that moment all my life and, finally, I was living my dream,” de Villiers told Chadwick Drive at the time.

He was among the leading run-scorers for Claremont Cricket Club in the Western Province Cricket Association premier league for several seasons before joining the Warriors.
