Batsman Matthew de Villiers debuted in first-class cricket on Thursday, 31 October 2024.
De Villiers was named in the Warriors’ XI for this week’s 4-Day Domestic Series fixture against North West at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.
De Villiers hit 94 in the first innings and 58 in the second. The Warriors and North West drew the fixture.
He joined the Warriors on a high-performance contract earlier this year.
Prior to joining the Warriors, de Villiers played for Western Province Colts – and was among the most prolific run-scorers in the Western Province Cricket Association premier league for several seasons with Claremont Cricket Club.
He is playing alongside Proteas cricketers Patrick Kruger, Sinethemba Qeshile and Duanne Olivier at the Warriors.
