South Africa’s squad for this month’s ODI tri-series against New Zealand and Pakistan has been announced.
A dozen players have been named in the squad for the first match against New Zealand. More will be added soon.
The initial 12 includes North West duo Meeka-eel Prince and Gideon Peters and Western Province all-rounder Mihlali Mpongwana, who have not yet been capped in international cricket.
Titans seamer Eathan Bosch and Warriors pair Senuran Muthusamy and Matthew Breetzke, who also have not yet played ODI cricket, have been selected.
“Keshav Maharaj and Heinrich Klaasen will miss the first match as they travel to Karachi on 9 February, ahead of the second ODI against Pakistan on 12 February at the National Stadium. The squad for the remainder of the tri-nation series will be announced on 9 February after the SA20 final,” read a statement from Cricket South Africa.
The four-match tri-series will precede the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
“Champions Trophy squad members Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs and Rassie van der Dussen will depart for Pakistan on 14 February,” added CSA.
“Fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has made a recovery from a left hamstring strain to further strengthen the attack.”
