Batsman Meeka-eel Prince struck a maiden List A century during North West’s three-wicket win over Boland in division one of the One-Day Cup at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Sunday, 1 October 2023.

Prince, who played for Ottoman Cricket Club during the 2022-23 Western Province Cricket Association premier league, has since been given a rookie contract by North West.

His 166 came off 140 deliveries during more than three hours at the crease. He hit 15 fours and six sixes.

“I wanted to score runs today and take the team over the line, but unfortunately I got out. Coming in at three, I had much more time to give myself a chance, as previously I batted at number seven. I knew I could accelerate and keep it at a run a ball while putting the bad balls away,” said Prince.

The match also featured centuries from Boland duo Pieter Malan and Keegan Petersen. Malan struck 171 to Petersen’s 121.
