Western Province Cricket Club fast bowler Michael Cohen shone on first-class debut for Derbyshire on day one of a key Bob Willis Trophy fixture against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge on Saturday.
Cohen completed first-innings figures of three for 47 in nine overs. His haul comprised the dismissals of middle-order batsmen Peter Trego and Joe Clarke – and England all-rounder Samit Patel.
Former Western Province Cricket Club spinner Daniel Moriarty, meanwhile, welcomed a first-class debut on day one of Surrey’s Bob Willis Trophy fixture against Middlesex at The Oval in London.
Moriarty collected figures of one for 53 in 18 overs. He dismissed opposition captain Stevie Eskinazi.
