Western Province players Mihlali Mpongwana and Tshepo Moreki have been named in Cricket South Africa’s Invitational XI squad for 28 March’s fixture against the Netherlands in Pretoria.
Western Province batsman Tony de Zorzi will captain the team.
The squad features four players with international experience – de Zorzi, Wihan Lubbe, Senuran Muthusamy and Sinethemba Qeshile.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for these players to show what they can do against an international team. The exposure on its own will be great for the group,” said CSA director of cricket Enoch Nkwe.
“The match will also serve as preparation for the visitors ahead of the two-match sequence against South Africa later this month, which forms part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.”
High performance manager Vincent Barnes added: “We are also looking to grow our players base amongst all our national teams and this is a chance for the uncapped players in the squad to get a feel of what is like to play at the next level.
“The squad itself is a mix of experience and youth – players that have done well in domestic cricket over the past season. We look forward to seeing how they do against the Netherlands.”
