Milnerton Cricket Club have recruited Montrose Cricket Club seamer Luke Petersen, ahead of the 2018-19 Western Province Cricket Association season.
This is not the first time Milnerton Cricket Club have secured a star player from Montrose Cricket Club. Batsman Matthew Kleinveldt swapped last year.
English county cricketer Max Waller, meanwhile, has rejoined Milnerton Cricket Club, as player-coach.
Waller’s initial association with the Cape Town-based club was in 2015-16, when they graduated to the first division A. They have since been promoted to the premier league.
Former Rondebosch Cricket Club batsman Dean van Blerk has been named Milnerton Cricket Club’s convenor of selectors. The experienced Leon Russouw has succeeded outgoing chairman Mike Reynders.
Meanwhile, Northerns Goodwood Cricket Club’s 2018-19 first division A campaign has been boosted by the recruitment of Gloucestershire batsman Ian Cockbain.
Cockbain was key to Gloucestershire’s 2018 Vitality Blast campaign, which ended in quarter-final defeat to Worcestershire in late August.
The right-hander’s big-hitting prowess was particularly evident during an entertaining 123, which spanned a mere 61 deliveries, against Middlesex in early August.
“I am really looking forward to getting over to Cape Town and playing for Northerns Goodwood CC. I am excited to work with some young, talented lads and contribute with some big runs,” Cockbain told Club Cricket SA.
