“Western Province are a good side, they have played some good cricket in recent seasons and they are obviously looking to compete at the top of every competition, which is exciting for me,” Moore told the HeraldLIVE.

“They have a good mix of experienced players as well as a few exciting younger players, so hopefully I can bring a bit of runs and also experience to the side.”

He played just four first-class matches for the Warriors during the 2021-22 season and did not feature in the One Day Cup or T20 Challenge.

“There are a few mixed emotions for me at the moment, I have played here for Eastern Province and the Warriors for about 10 years and it is sad to leave behind your mates, fellow team-mates and the people at the stadium,” he added.

“I think it is a good move, it will be good for me to start fresh and hopefully make my dreams come true at another place.

“Unfortunately, it won’t be at the Warriors but sometimes you have to make the tough calls to get what you want out of life.”

All-rounder Jon-Jon Smuts, too, has left the Warriors. He has joined the Dolphins.

The Warriors, meanwhile, have signed batsman Joshua Chippendale from Western Province.
