Montrose Cricket Club have named South African seamer Wayne Parnell in a strong squad for Saturday, 8 April 2017’s Western Province Cricket Association first division A Ama20 Competition final against Milnerton Cricket Club at Newlands in Cape Town.
Parnell was part of the Proteas tour of New Zealand earlier this year – and played three ODIs and a Twenty20 International, but did was not selected for any of the three Tests despite being named in the squad.
The 27-year-old recently won the CSA T20 Cricket Challenge Player of the Year award at the Cape Cobras’ awards – and will boost a Montrose Cricket Club unit battling to recover from a disappointing WPCA first division A season.
Montrose Cricket Club finished in ninth position in the 10-team standings – and are on the brink of relegation to the first division B.
Milnerton Cricket Club, meanwhile, won the first division A – and will be promoted to the premier league in the 2017-18 season.
Saturday will also bring the first division D final between Kensington Cricket Club and Wynberg Cricket Club – and the first division C final between Elsies River North Link Cricket Club and Glamorgan Cricket Club – at the same venue.
