Northern Cape have signed all-rounder Morne Venter for the 2025-26 domestic season in South Africa.
Venter was with Limpopo. He was their second-highest run-scorer and third-highest wicket-taker in the 2024-25 4-Day Domestic Series, division two. He scored the most runs for Limpopo in the T20 Knockout.
Northern Cape have also signed batsman Garnett Tarr. He has returned from the Knights.
“I think this is the move I need and it’ll be the best thing for me. I know Northern Cape, but this time around it’ll be a very different experience for me – and for the better,” Tarr told OFM.
Northern Cape recently appointed new head coach Mduduzi Mbatha. He was assistant coach at the Dolphins.
Mbatha has succeeded former Northern Cape head coach Mark Charlton, who joined the Warriors last year. Northern Cape assistant coach Deon Carolus was interim head coach prior to Mbatha’s appointment.
“I’m excited for this new journey, to work with coach Mbatha and just to be out there playing again. I am grateful for the opportunities the Knights have given me the past few seasons, but with that I’m also very excited for my new journey at Northern Cape,” added Tarr.
Northern Cape have lost seamer Hardus Viljoen, who has returned to division one with the Tuskers.
All-rounder Ernest Kemm and batsman Modiri Litheko have also left Northern Cape for Easterns and the Warriors, respectively.
