Mpumalanga have retained batsman Yassar Cook as captain for South Africa’s 2022-23 domestic season.
Cook captained Mpumalanga through division two of the 2021-22 4-Day Domestic Series and One Day Cup.
“The captain returns. Yassar Cook will be leading the Rhinos again,” read a brief statement from Mpumalanga.
His prowess in the middle-order was particularly evident during a fine 169 against a strong KwaZulu-Natal Inland bowling attack in White River in February.
Cook has previously been capped at first-class level by Gauteng and North West – and in franchise cricket by the Lions.

They have also gained batsman Jurie Snyman, all-rounder Kieran Kenny and seamer Thula Ncgcobo from Easterns, Western Province and KwaZulu-Natal Inland, respectively.
Batsman Rubin Hermann has been retained. Batsmen Glen Adams and Liam Peters, however, have left for Limpopo.
