Proteas fast bowler Nandre Burger has joined the Rajasthan Royals for the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League.
Burger has replaced the injured Sandeep Sharma in the Royals squad for the approximate equivalent of R7.4 million.
Burger has not played a professional fixture since September 2024 due to injury.
“The Rajasthan Royals picked Nandre Burger as an injury replacement for Sandeep Sharma for the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League,” read a statement from the Indian Premier League
“Sandeep Sharma, who played 10 matches for RR this season and scalped nine wickets, sustained a finger injury. Nandre Burger – the left-arm South African pacer – has previously played for RR in the 2024 IPL and picked up seven wickets from six games. He joins RR for INR 3.5 crore.”

Lhuan-dre Pretorius.
Burger will join fellow South African Lhuan-dre Pretorius at the Royals.
Pretorius has replaced Indian batsman Nitish Rana in Rajasthan’s squad for the approximate equivalent of R650,000.
Pretorius was the leading run-scorer in the 2025 SA20. He played for the Paarl Royals.
“The Rajasthan Royals have named Lhuan-dre Pretorius as a replacement for Nitish Rana, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League due to injury,” read a statement from the IPL.
“South Africa’s Lhuan-dre Pretorius has played 33 T20s and scored 911 runs with a highest score of 97. He will join RR for his base price of INR 30 lakh.”
The Rajasthan Royals currently occupy last position on the 10-team IPL points table and have been ruled out of contention for a play-off berth.
