Seamer Kyle Klein has been added to the Netherlands’ squad for next month’s T20 World Cup in the United States of America and West Indies.
Klein was originally named a travelling reserve, but has since been added to the full squad.
Spinner Saqib Zulfiqar has also been added to the squad after spinner Daniel Doram and seamer Fred Klaassen were sidelined by injury.
“We have been able to select a well-balanced team which we are confident will be able to perform in the conditions against the opposition we face in the US and West Indies,” said Netherlands head coach Ryan Cook.
“All of the players have been training well and have been involved in the recent ProSeries with some exciting performances showing the growing depth and quality in Netherlands cricket.”
All-rounders Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann were not selected due to commitments in English county cricket.
Seamers Timm van der Gugten and Brandon Glover have also been sidelined by injury.
The Netherlands have competed in five T20 World Cups. Their best finish was among the top 12 in 2022. They finished ahead of the United Arab Emirates and Namibia in group A two years ago.
“We have managed to perform admirably in the last two World Cups we have participated in and will be determined to rise to the challenges we face ahead to reach the next round of the tournament,” added Cook.
The Netherlands have been grouped with South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
