Blue Bells Cricket Club have appointed Nadeem Bedford player-coach for the 2023-24 Western Province Cricket Association first division B.
Bedford has left Yorkshire Cricket Club for Blue Bells Cricket Club.
He has succeeded former Blue Bells Cricket Club head coach Raafieq Isaacs.
“For me, Blue Bells Cricket Club was always close to my heart. It was my childhood cricket club and home for many years,” Bedford told Club Cricket SA.
“All the best to Yorkshire Cricket Club. I wish them a successful season. It feels like now is the perfect opportunity to fulfill my desire to give back to Blue Bells Cricket Club.
“I’m very excited to work with a new, young, talented squad – and make sure that I help them achieve more than last season.”
Blue Bells Cricket Club ended the 2022-23 WPCA first division B in seventh position, with eight wins and 10 defeats.
“Nadeem has a long history with the club and we are very happy to see him returning to where it all started for him,” read a statement from Blue Bells Cricket Club.
“We know that his experience as a player and a coach will be invaluable to the club – and we are looking forward to what he will add to Blue Bells.”
Blue Bells Cricket Club, meanwhile, have recruited former Rylands Cricket Club duo Yaaseen Petersen and Zahid Allie – and former Yorkshire Cricket Club player Zainodien Petersen.
Bedford’s twin brother, Faheem, has also moved to Blue Bells Cricket Club. He, too, was previously with Rylands Cricket Club.
