Warriors all-rounder Patrick Kruger has been named in South Africa’s squad for this month’s T20I series against West Indies.
Kruger is one of two uncapped players in the squad for the three T20Is in the West Indies. Lions leg-spinner Nqaba Peter has also been included.
“I am really grateful for this opportunity, it is something every cricketer dreams of, but it will only sink in properly once we are together as a group, then it will start to feel more real,” HeraldLIVE quoted Kruger as saying.
“The onus now falls on me to work hard, be prepared to take any chances that may come my way and try to earn more opportunities like this one.”
Kruger played for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 earlier this year. He won the title with the Sunrisers, who had won the inaugural SA20 in 2022 as well.
“The SA20 was big for me because it gave me a lot of self confidence, I grew personally, I saw myself differently in a cricketing sense, which helped me make better decisions on the field, whether I was batting, bowling or in the field,” added Kruger.
“It is not as big as international cricket, but you do play with seasoned players who have been successful in high pressure situations, it also gives you an idea of which areas of your own game need improvement.
“I am not where I want to be as a cricketer just yet, I’ve got my reward with a national selection for that tour, now I must work hard to ensure I can get more chances to wear the national colours.”
