Proteas duo Janneman Malan and George Linde won’t play in the 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League.
Linde and Malan had been drafted as replacement players by the Multan Sultans and Islamabad United, respectively.
Both, however, have withdrawn participation after being included in South Africa’s squads for next month’s tour of the West Indies. Linde is in the Test and T20I squad. Malan is in the latter.
“I was so desperate to play in the PSL. Unfortunately, I could not be part of it. Because of some issues and to fulfill my national duty, I can’t start my journey in the PSL. Big thanks to the Multan Sultans, who show trust in me,” Linde wrote on social media.
The tournament started earlier this year, but was postponed amid an increase of coronavirus cases in Pakistan. It will resume in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, next month.
