Sunrisers Eastern Cape have signed Dolphins seamer Ottneil Baartman for Cricket South Africa’s new T20 league.
The Port Elizabeth-based franchise is owned by Sun TV Network Limited, who also own the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.
The new league will comprise six teams, which are all owned by companies who also own IPL teams, will start early next year.
Each team have been allowed to sign five players prior to auction. One of the five must be a South African uncapped at international level. Sunrisers Eastern Cape have opted for Baartman, who has been in the Proteas’ Test squad, but not yet debuted.
Last week, the PE team confirmed the recruitment of Proteas batsman Aiden Markram.
