Ottoman Cricket Club have secured the services of Jersey fast bowler Ben Kynman for the remainder of the 2016-17 Western Province Cricket Association premier league season.

The 21-year-old right-armer proved rather ineffective and expensive through the closing throes of of Jersey’s International Cricket Council’s World Cricket League division four campaign in October and November last year, but enjoyed a superb stretch of form in the ICC WCL division five six months prior.

“Ben had a successful season for Jersey in 2016, including being the top wicket-taker in ICC World Cricket League division five with 15 wickets,” ITV quoted Jersey head coach Neil MacRae as saying.

“Ben’s development during 2016 was boosted by a Jersey Cricket training camp in Dubai in February las year – and appearances for Kent’s second XI.

About 10 weeks in Cape Town is a great opportunity for Ben to continue to develop his bowling skills in preparation for the 2017 season with us.”

Ottoman Cricket Club were promoted to the WPCA premier league after finishing second in the first division A last season. They currently occupy seventh position in the 10-team premier league standings, on the back of one win in four attempts – and will host defending champions Western Province Cricket Club on 21 and 28 January.
