Easterns Over-40 have named a 16-man squad for May 2025’s inter-provincial tournament in Port Elizabeth.
The squad includes former Dolphins batsman Kyle Smit, who has played for South Africa Over-40.
South Africa Over-40 cricketers Pieter Booysen and Johan Fourie have also been selected by Easterns Over-40 again.
Spinner Thys Neethling, who played for Lions Over-40 during 2023’s inter-provincial tournament in Johannesburg, has been selected for Easterns Over-40 this time.

“After months of hard work, dedication, and intense competition, we are proud to announce the final 16-man squad for the IPT in May,” read a statement from Easterns Cricket.
“The selection process was incredibly challenging due to the immense talent within our union, and we extend our appreciation to all 26 players who have given their all throughout the trials and training sessions.”

Western Province Over-40 are the reigning IPT champions. They were captained by former Proteas batsman Ashwell Prince and beat Easterns Over-40 in 2023’s final.
Western Province Over-40 duo Dan Styer and Wayne Hendricks later won the inaugural Over-40 World Cup with South Africa Over-40, but won’t be available for this year’s IPT. Styer has relocated to Scotland and Hendricks has retired.
