Six matches were played in the 2023 Over-50 World Cup on Wednesday, 15 March.

South Africa Over-50 v UAE Over-50

South Africa beat United Arab Emirates by 92 runs at Claremont Cricket Club.

Craig Lyons hit 110 not out and Brandon Nash 98 in South Africa’s total of 256 for three in 45 overs. Rehan Khan, Muhammad Shafique and Khurram Khan took a wicket each for UAE.

UAE’s reply reached 164 all out in 36.4 overs, as Rehan top-scored with 74. Alan Dawson and James Alanbie took three wickets each for South Africa.

Namibia Over-50 v Pakistan Over-50

Pakistan beat Namibia by 10 wickets at Green Point Cricket Club.

Kenford Joseph hit 18 in Namibia’s total of 67 all out in 27.4 overs. Fawad Ateeq Barry and Naeem Tayyab took three wickets each for Pakistan. Barry hit 39 not out in Pakistan’s reply of 69 without loss in 13.4 overs.

Sri Lanka Over-50 v USA Over-50

United States of America beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets at Western Province Cricket Club’s Vineyard Oval.

Ruvin Peiris hit 44 in Sri Lanka’s total of 114 all out in 39.4 overs. Humayun Bashir, Zubair Hussain, Chintan Patel and Sajith Fernando took two wickets each for USA.

Fazal Alam struck 63 not out in USA’s response of 115 without loss in 19.3 overs.

England Over-50 v Wales Over-50

England beat Wales by five wickets at Cape Town Cricket Club.

Steve Maddock top-scored with 26 in Wales’ total of 161 for eight in 45 overs. Martyn Gidley and Richard Trotman took three wickets each for England.

Trotman collected 41 in England’s reply of 162 for five in 35.4 overs. Mike Cann took one for 15 for Wales. Four other Wales bowlers took a wicket each.

New Zealand Over-50 v Canada Over-50

New Zealand beat Canada by 202 runs at Wynberg Cricket Club.

Colin Owens collected 89 in New Zealand’s total of 289 for nine in 45 overs. Bede Anandappa claimed four wickets for Canada.

Anandappa top-scored with 15 in Canada’s total of 87 all out in 20.1 overs. Dean Askew and Simon Dodds took three wickets each for New Zealand.

Zimbabwe Over-50 v Australia Over-50

Australia beat Zimbabwe by eight wickets at Rondebosch Cricket Club.

Murray Goodwin hit 58 in Zimbabwe’s total of 220 for eight in 45 overs. Steve Gollan took three wickets for Australia.

Steve Mace hit 102 not out in Australia’s reply at moved to 222 for two in 40 overs. Darshan Vaghmaria and Kelly Bennett took a wicket each for Zimbabwe.
