The Paarl Royals have signed Ireland batsman Paul Stirling for the remainder of this year’s SA20.
Stirling was recently with the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the inaugural edition of the International League T20 in the United Arab Emirates.
He has replaced injured West Indian fast bowler Obed McCoy in the Paarl Royals’ squad.
Stirling will likely debut in the SA20 in Tuesday’s fixture against the Pretoria Capitals in Centurion.
The 32-year-old Stirling has been capped 142 times in ODI cricket and 121 in T20Is.
He has also played in other domestic T20 leagues around the world, including the Pakistan Super League, Caribbean Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League and T20 Blast in the United Kingdom.
The Paarl Royals currently occupy fourth position in the 2023 SA20’s six-team standings. They have won four matches and lost as many, with one no-result.
