The Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association have stated former international captains Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq will participate in this year’s Over-40 World Cup.
Afridi, Khan and Misbah have retired from Test, ODI and T20I cricket – and are 43, 45 and 48 years old, respectively.
“Shahid Afridi will play for Pakistan Over-40. This was decided in a meeting held between Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association chairman Fawad Ijaz Khan – and Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association director and Quetta Gladiators franchise owner Nadeem Omar.
“Leading players like Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq will also be playing in this World Cup.”
The 2023 Over-40 World Cup in Karachi, Pakistan, isn’t formally sanctioned by International Masters Cricket, who have reiterated the official Over-40 World Cup will be played in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2024.
“The World Cup is being played by eight countries. It will be played in Karachi from 23 September to 8 October 2023,” added the PVCA.
