Crusaders Cricket Club batsman Cameron Delport has been retained by the Lahore Qalandars, ahead of the 2017 Pakistan Super League.

Delport scored 227 runs, including three brisk half-centuries, across seven innings in the 2016 PSL.

The match-winning 78 from a mere 61 deliveries, lined with six fours and three handsome sixes, struck against Peshawar Zalmi at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates was particularly impressive.

Lahore, meanwhile, have released West Indian Chris Gayle – and recruited New Zealander Brendon McCullum and Australian Shaun Tait.

“I am very humbled to be retained by Lahore Qalandars. We have an exciting squad, with huge amounts of talent. Can’t wait for the 2017 Pakistan Super League,” the 27-year-old Delport enthused on Facebook.

The big-hitting Delport was key to Crusaders Cricket Club’s title-winning campaign at the 2015 National Club Championship. He played for the Durban-based outfit in this year’s tournament in Pretoria, too, but was less successful.
